The Islamic Cultural Centre for Women and Children (ICCW&C), under the leadership of Aja Maimuna Yadalieu Savage Sunday held its 18th Islamic conference at a local hotel in Banjul.
The conference, which was graced by hundreds of participants from both The Gambia and Senegal, was also graced by prominent women Islamic scholars, Aja Fatou Bintou Diop of TFM and Aja Rabie Cisse of RDV TV in Senegal.
The theme of this year’s conference was centred on ‘how to prepare for Ramadan and harmful effects of ‘backway’ to Europe’.
At the opening of the conference, the representative of the President of the Republic at the occasion, Sheikh Ibrahim Jarjue, called on women to contribute their quota towards the teaching of the Islamic religion and also to emulate Aja Maimuna Savage.
Abdoulie Bah, mayor of Banjul; and a representative of the vice president, both thanked Aja Maimuna Savage for her committed stance in Islam
